<image:title>Michael Cashman</image:title>
<image:caption>Michael was born in the East End of London and through mishap and luck went on to star in Oliver at the age of 12 in London’s West End. He left full time education soon after. His successful career in films and television lead him on to become infamous as the man who delivered the first gay kiss on British television. While starring in EastEnders for three years as Colin, he took up the tabloid and right-wing challenges in the Thatcher years and campaigned against the stigma of AIDS and HIV, and the anti-lesbian and gay law section 28. He became founder and chair of the LGBT equality group Stonewall. Michael’s love of acting gave way to his pursuit of equality and Civil Liberties and he was elected to the European Parliament, as well as the Labour Party National Executive, where he achieved many notable successes. He stepped down from elected politics in 2014, was awarded the CBE, became Labour’s LGBT Global envoy and was elevated to the House of Lords as Baron Cashman of Limehouse in 2014, where he still champions and defends equality in the UK and beyond. His partner and husband of 31 years died four days before he entered the House of Lords. Michael Cashman’s memoir, One of Them, recounts his life working on EastEnders to his days in Parliament, and finding love in between. One of Them was published by Bloomsbury in February 2020. It was shortlisted for the RSL Christopher Bland Prize in May 2021. Awards include: Special service Award from the American Association of Physicians for Human Rights, Honorary Doctorate from Staffordshire University: Commander of British Empire (CBE). Lifetime Achievement Award, European Diversity Awards, Pink News Awards 2014, Stonewall Politician of the Year 2014, Honorary Freedom of the City of London 2016, Honorary Life Membership from British Equity 2017.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Eddie Mair is, by his own account, one of Britain’s most beloved broadcasters. Born in Dundee, Scotland, he has worked in radio all his adult life. From the foothills of commercial radio in his hometown, through the sunlit uplands of the BBC in Scotland, he has reached the peaks of his profession, with BBC network radio in London. In addition, he’s appeared on most of the BBC’s TV channels, including ones that are no longer on TV. He witnessed the handover of Hong Kong and once asked Arnold Schwarzenegger a question –though he takes no responsibility for either. For nearly twenty years he has been at the helm of Radio 4’s PM: a nightly news round-up that means Eddie works for just one hour a day, giving him plenty time to knock together these diaries. Eddie’s other work, as a humanitarian and tireless, secret worker for charity is not mentioned here. His diaries, titled A Good Face For Radio, were published by Little Brown in November 2017. Robert Caskie manages Eddie Mair’s literary career in association with Anita Land Ltd.</image:caption>

She has also been included in Management Today’s annual 35 Under 35 list and The Drum’s Top 50 Female Innovators. Specialising in opinion journalism, women's rights, fashion, travel and consumer behaviours, she has also held senior roles at Marie Claire and within Condé Nast's digital division. In 2015, she left traditional media behind to take up a new role at Global Chief Content Officer at the world’s largest trend forecasting company, WGSN, and now spends a significant portion of her life, suitcase in hand, travelling between their worldwide offices. Instead of reporting on the here and now, today she is focused on predicting how we’ll behave, eat, live, dress and think in tomorrow’s world. When on dry land, she has popped up on Newsnight, the Today programme and Sky News, and is a regular contributor to Channel 4’s What Britain Buys series. While she might help mega brands predict their own future trends, she still takes hours deciding what to wear each morning.</image:caption>

<image:title>Tanya Shadrick</image:title>
<image:caption>Tanya Shadrick is a British writer whose work explores the tension between restraint and risk: how we negotiate duty and desire. “Robust, declarative even, but there is also something disquieting… for Shadrick, to be a woman, an artist and a mother still seems something not quite of this world.” TLS Tanya embarked as a writer after forty with THE WILD PATIENCE SCROLLS – a mile of writing composed pen on paper beside England’s oldest outdoor pool. Conducted across two years, it placed her in direct encounter with many thousands of people: a radical extension of her previous private practice as a hospice life-story scribe and a deliberate experiment in bringing literary and existential conversations into the local everyday. Following this project, Tanya was welcomed as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and as writer-in-residence at the Jan Michalski Foundation in Switzerland, the National Trust artists’ cabin at Bucks Mills, and Virginia Woolf’s Monk’s House. Her debut book THE CURE FOR SLEEP (Weidenfeld & Nicolson) is a memoir that explores the limits of personal freedom within small-town life: what it takes and costs to expand the possible. It was a Waterstones and Evening Standard non-fiction book of the year. Since 2024, she has returned to working privately, after completing an intensive decade-long period of public-facing projects. She is currently at work on a novel. She has lived for the last thirty years in Lewes on the Sussex Downs. Find Tanya on Instagram</image:caption>

<image:title>Louis Theroux</image:title>
<image:caption>Louis Theroux's documentaries follow his attempts to get to know the people at the heart of some of the world's - and especially America's - most controversial and fascinating lifestyles. In a career spanning nearly two decades, he has interrogated the engrained criminals at San Quentin prison; lived with the extreme believers of the Westboro Baptist Church; gambled with the high-rollers at a Las Vegas mega-casino, and stalked game with trophy hunters on South Africa's wild animal farms. Louis started out as a correspondent on Michael Moore's TV Nation before being signed up by the BBC to make his own series, Weird Weekends, about unusual American subcultures. Since then, he has immersed himself in numerous documentaries, spending more than a month in Miami for a two-part series about the inmates at one of America's most violent jails, revisiting his 1997 documentary about the world of male performers in Twilight of the Porn Stars and visiting one of the best schools in America for autism in Extreme Love: Autism. Louis' feature-length documentary My Scientology Movie was released in the UK in Autumn 2016 and was the highest-grossing theatrical release documentary that year. Louis’s programmes have won numerous accolades including two Baftas and an RTS award and are shown all over the world. He also writes for print publications. His 2005 travel book about some of his adventures, THE CALL OF THE WEIRD was re-published by Pan Books in March 2018 with additional material. In 2020 he launched a new podcast, Grounded, where he used lockdown to track down some of the people he's been longing to talk to. In September 2019 Pan Macmillan published the first of a two book deal, GOTTA GET THEROUX THIS. It was described by Louis as a “forensic and thoughtful appraisal of my life and career”. It immediately became a Sunday Times Bestseller in hardback and then also in paperback in August 2020. It has sold over 180,000 copies and is nominated for Audiobook of the Year at The British Book Awards 2020. Bolinda announced in August 2020 that they had acquired exclusive US and Canada rights in the audiobook. His next book, THEROUX THE KEYHOLE, was published in November 2021 by Pan Macmillan. Unable to escape to the porn sets, prisons and maximum-security psychiatric units that are his usual journalistic beat, he began reporting on a location even more full of pitfalls and hostile objects of inquiry: his own home during a pandemic. Robert Caskie manages Louis Theroux's literary career. For all other enquiries please contact Tracey MacLeod at KBJ Management.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sarah Winman</image:title>
<image:caption>Sarah Winman was an actress, working in theatre in her twenties and early thirties but by 1992 she decided that she wanted to write a novel. Later in 2008, while taking an ‘Exploring Fiction’ course at City Lit, Sarah realised she was already writing what went on to become her highly acclaimed debut, When God Was A Rabbit, a story about childhood, eccentricity, loss and love. This novel was an international bestseller which won Sarah multiple awards, including New Writer of the Year in the Galaxy National Book Awards and the Newton First Book Award. Sarah's second novel, A Year of Marvellous Ways, is about the relationship between eighty-nine year old Marvellous, who lives alone in a remote Cornish creek, and Drake, a young soldier left reeling by the Second World War. When his promise to fulfil a dying man's last wish sees him wash up in Marvellous' creek, broken in body and spirit, the old woman comes to his aid. This novel was a Sunday Times Top Ten Bestseller. In her her book, Tin Man, Sarah explored the triangular relationship of Ellis and Michael, who have been inseparable since boyhood, and Annie, who walks into their lives, changing nothing and everything. It was published in the UK by Tinder Press in March 2017 and in the US by G.P. Putnam's Sons in May 2018. Tin Man was shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award 2017 and it has been longlisted for the Carnegie Medal of Excellence in the US. In August 2020 it was announced that film rights had been bought by Hillbilly Films. Her most recent novel, Still Life, was published by 4th Estate in the UK in June 2021 to great critical acclaim. Amongst other notable awards, it was selected as the Dymocks Book of the Year 2021, the winner of the 2021 Books Are My Bag Readers Award for Fiction, Good Morning America’s November 2021 Book Club choice, the inaugural Inwords Literary Award, and for the Autumn 2021 series of BBC Book Club with Sara Cox. Currently, it has been sold in fourteen languages including the US, and has sold half a million copies worldwide to date.</image:caption>

<image:title>Wendy Mitchell</image:title>
<image:caption>Wendy was diagnosed with young onset dementia on the 31st July 2014 at the age of 58 years young - she noted 'I might not have much of a short term memory but that’s one date I’ll never forget!' She soon retired from the NHS, having worked as a non-clinical team leader for twenty years. Post diagnosis, she was shocked by the lack of awareness of dementia, both in the community and clinical world, so travelled around the country raising awareness and encouraging others to embrace her passion for research. Wendy sadly died in February 2024. She had two daughters and lived happily in Yorkshire. She was the proud author of the Sunday Times bestseller Somebody I Used to Know, which she would never have thought possible when she was diagnosed. Her second book, What I Wish People Knew About Dementia, was published in January 2022 by Bloomsbury, and immediately became another Sunday Times bestseller, as did the paperback edition in March 2023. Wendy’s final book, One Last Thing, was published by Bloomsbury in June 2023.</image:caption>

She has previously held a prestigious Leverhulme Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Marie Curie Fellowship at University College Cork. She was awarded her PhD from Cambridge in 2008. Her academic research has been published in international journals such as History of Religions, The Journal of Medieval Latin, Anglo-Saxon England, and Medium Ævum. Elizabeth’s area of specialism is the history, culture and literature of pre-modern Europe. Her research focuses on Ireland, and she has also published on early medieval Wales and England. She is currently writing a book which seeks to introduce medieval literature to a wider audience, demonstrating its enduring power and resonances in the present day. She has lectured extensively across Europe and the United States, and in 2020-21 will be an Academic Visitor in the School of English at the University of Nottingham, UK. She loves music – especially extreme metal and experimental noise – and has a teenage daughter. FIERCE APPETITES, Elizabeth’s captivating and original book, was published by Penguin in March 2022, and became an immediate top ten bestseller in Ireland. It was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards 2022. “A book of blazing honesty that allows all the gorgeous complexity of the past into our messy present to remind us we've always been like this” -- Max Porter ”Boyle has the skill to move us between the raw and the refined, the mind and the body, the past and the present, the mundane and the marvellous without ever losing control of her dark materials” -- Fintan O'Toole ”I just love it” -- John Connolly ”An eloquent plea for the value of curiosity and the life of the mind, standing up the robustness of scholarship against the frailty of individuals, the resilience of myth against brittle daily preoccupations. It's an agile story, irreverent, capacious and constantly surprising: like nothing else you will read” -- Hilary Mantel ”Pure nectar for the imagination, and it's my book of 2022” -- Clodagh Finn, Irish Examiner</image:caption>

<image:title>Tony King - Tony King started his 61 year career in the music business in 1958 at Decca, where he travelled every day from his hometown of Eastbourne. At 19 he became the youngest promotion man of the time, and looked after visiting American artists such as Roy Orbison, Brenda Lee, The Ronettes and their Svengali producer Phil Spector.</image:title>
<image:caption>When he met The Beatles they struck up a friendship over their mutual love of American music. After setting up Immediate Records with the Rolling Stones’ manager Andrew Loog Oldham, Tony was approached by Sir George Martin’s independent production company to do promotion for his artists and others in the company produced by his co partners - among them Cilla Black, The Hollies, Manfred Man, Tom Jones, and The Beatles. In 1970 Tony joined Apple as general manager, which gave him his first dream ticket to New York. In 1973 he went to America again for Apple, this time to Los Angeles to pull together the album Ringo for Ringo Starr. It went to no 1 and he was asked to stay on to do the same thing for John Lennon’s upcoming album Mind Games. For the next two or three years he worked with John and Ringo out of the Capitol Tower in Hollywood. When Apple closed in 1976 Tony became Executive VP of Elton John’s label, Rocket, working with Neil Sedaka, Kiki Dee and, of course, Elton. In 1978 Rocket moved to New York. Tony soon became Head of Club Promotion for RCA, which was followed two years later by a move to Creative Director for RCA. In 1984 Mick Jagger was looking for someone to pull together his first solo album, She’s The Boss. He took the job that was offered and stayed with Mick, and subsequently The Stones, for the next 27 years. In 2011 he joined Elton John’s team, initially working on his Las Vegas show, The Million Dollar Piano, and then working on his albums and current World Tour. His memoir, THE TASTEMAKER, was published by Faber in February 2023 in hardback and February 2024 in paperback.</image:caption>

He has also worked on Camden Market, appeared in an Italian TV commercial, and been a pronunciation coach for Catalan opera singers. In 2016 he started writing his first novel, THE MISEDUCATION OF EVIE EPWORTH, inspired by his work at the V&A museum. The novel is about lost mothers, uncoping fathers, and muddled daughters; it’s also the story of when the ‘50s finally became the ‘60s in a small Yorkshire village, with the modern world arriving in all its pop-cultural glory. Published in April 2021 by Scribner UK, the book was chosen for both the Richard & Judy Bookclub and the BBC Radio 2 Bookclub, and went on to become a bestseller. His second book, ALL ABOUT EVIE, is a sequel, charting the messy end of the 1960s and the choppy beginnings of the 1970s. It’s a book about finding your own way of doing things, a book about letting go, and - most of all - a book about love. Big-hearted, uplifting, bittersweet and tender, the novel has been described as fizzing with wit and alive to the power of friendship in all its forms. ALL ABOUT EVIE was published in July 2022. Matson is now working on his third novel, which, like his first two, will be a funny book about serious things.</image:caption>

<image:title>Paul Bench - Dr Paul Bench is a lecturer in Historical and Cultural Studies. His central interest is investigating the intersection of visual cultures and queer histories. This research is interdisciplinary, taking in histories of art and photography, biography studies, fashion studies, material cultures research, queer theory and gender studies.</image:title>
<image:caption>Paul completed a PhD focused on three queer men in interwar Britain, in 2021. This followed an MA in The History and Culture of Fashion and his prior career as a fashion designer. Having published academic articles and communicating his research in conference settings, Paul is currently working on his book QUEER WAYS OF SEEING, which aims to bring his research to a wider audience. The forthcoming publication will offer new ways of understanding what we mean when we talk about ‘queer art’. It draws fresh comparisons between both historical and recent artworks, establishing a framework for interpretation and in the process, suggesting the potential contours of a queer visual language.</image:caption>

<image:title>News 2 - Clover Stroud’s ‘brutal, beautiful’ memoir published</image:title>
<image:caption>'With brutal, beautiful honesty, Clover articulates how bereavement shocks and dislocates - and in all the pain, there's SO much life.' MARIAN KEYES A few weeks before Christmas, Clover's sister died of breast cancer, aged forty-six. Just days before, she had been given years to live. Her sudden death split Clover's life apart. The Red of My Blood charts Clover's fearless passage through the first year after her sister's death. It is a book about what life feels like when death interrupts it, and about bearing the unbearable and describing an experience that seems beyond words. Lyrical, hopeful, it is also about the magical way in which death and life exist so vividly beside one another, and the wonder of being human.</image:caption>

<image:caption>On return from near-death, Tanya Shadrick vows to stop sleepwalking through life. To take more risks, like the characters in the fairy tales she loved as a small girl, before loss and fear had her retreat into routine and daydreams. Around the care of young children, she starts to play with the shape and scale of her days: to stray from the path, get lost in the woods, make bargains with strangers. As she moves beyond her respectable roles as worker, wife and mother in a small town, Tanya learns what it takes – and costs – to break the spell of longing for love, approval, safety, rescue.</image:caption>

<image:caption>WHAT I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT DEMENTIA is a wise, practical and life affirming new book from Sunday Times Bestselling author Wendy Mitchell. The new title published by Bloomsbury on 20 January 2022 combines anecdotes, research and Wendy’s own brilliant wit and wisdom to tell readers exactly what she wishes they knew about dementia. When Wendy was diagnosed with young-onset dementia at the age of fifty-eight, her brain was overwhelmed with images of the last stages of the disease - those familiar tropes, shortcuts and clichés that we are fed by the media, or even our own health professionals. But her diagnosis far from represented the end of her life. Instead, it was the start of a very different one.</image:caption>

<image:title>News 2 - Sarah Winman’s STILL LIFE published</image:title>
<image:caption>From the author of When God was a Rabbit and Tin Man, Still Life is a big-hearted story of people brought together by love, war, art and the ghost of E.M. Forster. 1944, in the ruined wine cellar of a Tuscan villa, as bombs fall around them, two strangers meet and share an extraordinary evening. Ulysses Temper is a young British soldier, Evelyn Skinner is a sexagenarian art historian and possible spy. Evelyn’s talk of truth and beauty plants a seed in Ulysses’ mind that will shape the trajectory of his life – and of those who love him – for the next four decades. Moving from the Tuscan Hills and piazzas of Florence, to the smog of London’s East End, Still Life is a sweeping, joyful novel about beauty, love, family and fate.</image:caption>

<image:title>News 2 - Ece Temelkuran’s Together published</image:title>
<image:caption>This is not about how we messed things up. This is about what kind of world we want to live in now, and the joy we can take in finding our dignity again. In 2020 protest movements across the world revealed the inequalities sewn into the fabric of society. The wildfires that ravaged Australia and California made it clear we are in the middle of a climate catastrophe. The pandemic showed us all just how precarious our economies really are, and the conspiracy theories surrounding the US election proved the same of our democracies. Ece Temelkuran puts forward a compelling new narrative for our current moment, not for some idealised future but for right now. Above all, this book asks you to choose to have faith in the other human beings we share this planet with.</image:caption>

He weaves practical gardening knowledge through these two meditative memoir strands as he describes the planning and planting of his new small garden near Cardiff.” Marc’s first book, A Life in Nature: or How to Catch a Mole (Vintage), was longlisted for the Wainwright Prize in 2020.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Marc Hamer’s second book was published in January 2021 by Harvill Secker. Marc has designed and nurtured 12 acres of garden for over two decades. It is rarely visited so he is the only person who fully knows its secrets, but it is not his own. His relationship with the garden’s owner is both distant and curiously intimate. In this life-enhancing book he takes us month-by-month through his experiences, as the seasons’ changes bring new plants and wildlife to the fore and lead him to reflect on his past and future. Through his peaceful and meditative prose we learn about gardening folklore and wisdom, the joys of manual labour, his path from solitary homelessness to family contentment and the cycle of growth and decay that runs through both the garden’s life and our own.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Indigo Press have published Paul Behrens’ debut book, THE BEST OF TIMES, THE WORST OF TIMES: FUTURES FROM THE FRONTIERS OF CLIMATE. The environmental emergency is the greatest threat we face. Preventing it will require an unprecedented political and social response. And yet, there is still hope. Academic, physicist, environmental expert and award-winning science communicator Paul Behrens presents a radical analysis of a civilisation on the brink of catastrophe. Setting out the pressing existential threats we face, he writes, in alternating chapters, of what the future could look like at its most pessimistic and hopeful. He argues that structural problems need structural solutions, and examines critical areas in which political will is required, including women's education, food and energy security, biodiversity and economics.</image:caption>

<image:title>Isaias Fanlo</image:title>
<image:caption>Isaias Fanlo is a Catalan writer, scholar, and cultural manager. Born in Lleida (Spain) in 1980, he has lived in Barcelona and Chicago and is now based in Cambridge. He is Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Iberian Cultures at the University of Cambridge and Fellow in Iberian Studies at Fitzwilliam College. His research on Iberian cultures, the performing arts, and queer theory has been published in leading academic journals and edited volumes. He also writes on culture and activism for Spanish media outlets. In 2004 he published El llibre rosa (“The Pink Book”), a non-fiction work widely regarded as a pioneering study of gender and sexuality in Catalonia. His first novel, El pes de la boira (“The Weight of the Mist”), appeared in 2025 to critical acclaim. An ambitious queer Bildungsroman, the novel moves between historical memory and magical realism, exploring the open wounds of the past in the fictional city of Rotunda, a remote inland town surrounded by desert, marked by freezing, mist-laden winters and implacable summers.
